Arty Bra Cancer Fundraiser 2018
Recycling materials turn into Art, so why not turn waste into up-cycled Art, as I continue to think of the planet, and how much waste we have on our precious earth.
My thoughts around my Arty Bra submission work, supporting friends going through breast cancer and other forms of cancer, I knew I had to contribute to this very near and dear cause.
What inspired me to take part in this project: The lives of many friends, neighbours, and family that have been affected by cancer over the years. Breast, bowel, pancreatic, and prostate cancer having affected so many people I care deeply about, it was time I did something about this and my way of giving back to the cancer wellness support community in the Blue Mountains, thinking of what the foundation of my design would be was challenging.
Thinking of nature at the same time, well why not something that was recycled, or should I say up-cycled, and made out of tea bags was perfect.
Recycling is a must these days, but the lives of cancer patients are so important as they come to terms with the cancer, treatment, remission, their families’ friends and loved ones are so very critical for their recovery. Each day as they go through their lives just coping and living with hope of recovery, and for some even losing the fight to this illness.
My artwork Bra was painted, first with colour, then layers of up-cycled tea bags were then painted individually with water colours each one with a special message on them. Then I placed each of them individually onto the bra one by one. The rose in the middle of the bra was created out of dried and used tea bags, which were then painted. The straps on the bra, were all covered with tea bag tags and attached with glue. I love contributing to Blue Mountains Art Projects within the community.
And proudly, my Artwork raised $450 that evening. My work was called “Tea-rrific” a 1 of 1 Bra Artwork by Tea Bags Rose.
